RF Ministry of Industry and Trade allocates RUB 1.240 bln for Vympel Shipyard to build 3 Kometa-type vessels for Crimea
RUB 2.4 bln tranche issued by Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade to increase the authorized capital of the United Shipbuilding Corporation for implementation of the programme on subsidized leasing of vessels (involving captive company Goznak Leasing), foresees providing of RUB 1.240 bln to Vympel Shipyard (Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region), Boris Kabakov, Director of the Shipbuilding and Marine Facilities Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, told journalists on 4 December 2017 in Saint-Petersburg.
According to him, the funds to be allocated in the nearest time will be used to finance the construction of high-speed passenger vessels of Kometa type in compliance with the instructions of RF President Vladimir Putin to revive high-speed passenger lines in the Azov-Black Sea Basin.
The first Kometa will start operating at the Yalta-Sevastopol route in 2018, added the official. The route of two more Kometa vessels is to be determined. There is a plan to build three additional high-speed vessels to link the Krasnodar territory with Crimea.
Vympel Shipyard specializes in the construction of medium- and light-tonnage seagoing and river vessels and boats both for military and civil sectors. Since its inception in 1930, the company was built more than 30,000 ships of various types. Over the past 40 years, the shipbuilding company has delivered more than 1,800 boats to 29 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa and South America.
Currently Vympel Shipyard is building serial combat missile / patrol boats of new generation, high-speed SAR boats, firefighting ships, hydrographic survey and fishing vessels, tugs and other dedicated fleet, providing warranty / maintenance service for its products.
