Half-year throughput of NCSP up 2.1% to 70.2 million tonnes
Consolidated cargo throughput of NCSP Group in January-June 2015 rose on H1 2014 to 70.2 million tonnes, the Group said in a press release.
Liquid cargo totaled 55,335,000 tonnes, bulk cargo comprised 5,263,000 tonnes, general cargo amounted to 7,037,000 tonnes, and containers accounted for 2,550,000 tonnes. Volumes of liquid cargo were up 0.7% year-on-year, bulk and general cargo rose by 7.4% and 16.5% year-on-year respectively. Container traffic in tonnes reduced by 11.1%.
CEO of PJSC NCSP Sultan Batov commented on Group’s half-year operating results:
«Total volumes in H1 2015 increased 2.1% year-on-year, which is in line with our best-case scenario. It is worth noting, that we managed to catch up with last year on grain volumes as soon as export duties on wheat were loosened, despite the 5.1% reduction of grain volumes at Russian seaports in total. Growth in total volumes was largely backed up by the 2 million tonnes increase in oil products transshipment, which represents 14% year-on-year increase, way ahead of the industry’s average. Ferrous metals also outpaced the industry by 7.8 percent points and increased by 956 thousand tonnes or 19.4 % year-on-year».
In January-June 2015 NCSP Group loaded 55,335 thousand tonnes of liquid cargo. Crude oil amounted to 38,187 thousand tonnes, while oil products increased by 2,045 thousand tonnes reaching 16,702 thousand tonnes. Oil products’ volumes were growing 6 percent points ahead of the industry – 14% versus 8% year-on-year according to ASOP. Transshipment of UAN and seed oils in H1 2015 comprised 299 thousand tonnes and 148 thousand tonnes respectively.
Bulk cargo volumes in H1 2015 totaled 5,263,000 tonnes, 362,000 tonnes more than a year earlier or up 7.4%. Grain exports totaled 2,541,000 tonnes; chemical cargo comprised 527,000 tonnes; sugar accounted for 584,000 tonnes; iron ore amounted to 895,000 tonnes, and coal volumes totaled 716,000 tonnes.
Grain volumes caught up with H1 2014 despite total transshipment of grain at Russian seaports dropping 5.1% year-on-year according to ASOP. Transshipment of iron ore also stayed at the H1 2014 level while total volume or ore at Russian seaports reduced 1.2% year-on-year according to ASOP. Coal exports increased by 253,000 tonnes or 54.6% year-on-year.
General cargo volumes in the reporting period increased by 995,000 tonnes or 16.5% year-on-year and amounted to 7,037,000 tonnes. Transshipment of ferrous metals and pig iron grew by 957,000 tonnes or 19.4% year-on-year, while growth rate in H1 2015 accelerated by 1.9 percent points versus that of the five months of 2015, and outperformed industry’s average growth of 11.6% year-on-year according to ASOP. Non-ferrous metals handling in H1 2015 totaled 605,000 tonnes, growing by 92,000 tonnes or 17.9% year-on-year. Timber, perishable cargo, and other cargo in January-June 2015 totaled 320,000 tonnes, 119,000 tonnes, and 106,000 tonnes respectively.
Container traffic in H1 2015 totaled 2,550,000 tonnes or 240,000 TEU.
