    - Alternative types of fuel are getting increasingly popular worldwide with Asia joining the trend: the Port of Singapore held its first methanol bunkering operation while the port’s sales of liquefied natural gas surged 7-fold, blended biofuel LSFO — 5.5 times.

    Meanwhile, Pavilion Energy and CNOOC Gas and Power Group have successfully concluded their inaugural Ship-to-Ship (STS) LNG bunkering operation to Maran Dione, Maran Tankers Management (MTM)’s new-built dual-fuel (DF) very large crude carrier (VLCC), in China.

    As for Russia, the Government and Sistema PJSFC signed an agreement of intent to develop hydrogen energetics. According to Andrey Gurlenov, General Director of Sitronics Electro, a pilot run of a hydrogen-powered passenger ship is to be held in September 2023 in the water area of the shipyard in the Leningrad Region.

    It should also be noted that throughput of Russian seaports continues growing: in January-July 2023, they handled 526.8 million tonnes of cargo, up 9.3%, year-on-year. The growth was mainl driven by dry bulk cargo.
