USC declares its technological capabilities to build vessels for collecting and processing of plastic
When speaking at the “On The Wave. New deal in the world ocean development” session of the Open Innovations Forum, Vasily Boitsov, Vice-President, R&D, United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), told about the potential for the development of industry and national economy through implementation of global ocean development and study programmes. Vasily Boitsov touched upon contamination of the global ocean and told about technological capabilities of USC to build vessels for collecting and processing of plastic, USC says in a press release.
“In case of demand from domestic and international environmental organizations we will be able to offer a required technology. PET is a valuable material for global economy”, he said.
“Development of design concepts and new technologies opens additional opportunities for development of oceans. USC projects are the instruments for that. We have a sufficient competence for construction of a wide range of innovative marine equipment”, said Vasily Boitsov.
There are considerable positive changes in this segment with the state having developed a clear system policy facilitating the renovation of fishing and transport fleets and development of floating power units. The Akademik Lomonosov FPU demonstrates that it is a successful and promising trend.
USC has a unique competence and experience in implementation of sophisticated projects on construction of the world’s largest nuclear-powered icebreakers, production platforms and robotics. Special attention was paid by the speaker to research ships. In his opinion, hi-tech research laboratories can be used in cooperation with other countries.
Special session dedicated to the study of the global ocean resources was initiated by USC at Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum back in 2017. Participation of high class international experts in the panel discussion organized by USC and held at SPIEF 2018 confirmed the interest to this topic. The discussion of the topical issues continued with the support of USC at SPIEF 2019.
