VEB.RF considers 8 projects focused on development of shipbuilding in Primorye with potential scope of participation exceeding RUB 200 billion
VEB.RF is currently considering eight projects focused on the development of shipbuilding in the Primorsky Territory with a potential scope of participation exceeding RUB 200 billion, press center of the Group cites VEB.RF Chairman Igor Shuvalov as saying during his working visit to Primorye.
During the 4th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), PAO Sovcomflot (SCF Group), Rosneft, Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex and VEB Group signed a set of agreements on placing orders with Zvezda for a series of two next generation large-capacity Aframax tankers. In late October, the Vnesheconombank’s Supervisory Board approved the transaction.
“Support of this industry has a promising effect on the development of many related industries, which is a key task for VEB Group as a development institution. VEB.RF is currently considering eight projects focused on the development of shipbuilding in the Primorsky Territory with a potential scope of participation exceeding RUB 200 billion. The launch of the projects will increase ax proceedings, let create new jobs and enhance the quality of life”, emphasized Igor SHuvalov.
During the working visit to the Primorsky Territory, the team of VEB Group visited Zvezda Shipbuilding which has recently started serial construction of Aframax-class tankers, the first vessels of such type to be built in the Russian Federation.
With their deadweight of 114,000 tonnes and 1A/1B ice class the tankers will be able to operate round-the-year in challenging ice conditions. Power plants of the “green” tankers can run on both conventional types of fuel and environmentally friendly one – natural gas, in compliance new requirements on emissions in the Baltic Sea and the North Sea Basins. The launching of the lead tanker is scheduled for 2020. The shipyard’s backlog of orders currently numbers 12 Aframax tankers.
The Zvezda product range will comprise vessels up to 350,000dwt, elements of offshore platforms, ice-class vessels, special vessels and other marine equipment of various complexity, parameters and purpose, including the equipment that was not manufactured in Russia before through the absence of the required launching and hydraulic structures.
The VEB Group team also visited the construction site of the future residential area intended for Zvezda personnel in the Bolshoy Kamen. Two blocks of flats (68 flats each) have already been commissioned and occupied. All in all, about 5,000 flats are to be built by 2023, that will fully cover housing requirements of the personnel.
