Krasnoye Sormovo delivers the Aleksandr Zuyev, dry cargo carrier of Project RSD59, to STLC

On 16 July 2019, Nizhny Novgorod based Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (a company of United Shipbuilding Corporation) delivered the Aleksandr Zuyev, the ninth 8,144 DWT ship of Project RSD59 ordered by State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) with shipping company Idel (joint venture of Pola Rise and Glencore) as a lessee, says press center of Marine Engineering Bureau, RSD59 designer.

In November 2018, Krasnoye Sormovo signed a trilateral contract with State Transport Leasing Company and shipping company Pola Rise on construction of the second series of four dry cargo carriers of Project RSD59. Under the contract, all ships are to be built and delivered to the customer this year. Idel 1, Idel 2 and Idel 3 were launched in February, April and May 2019, respectively.

RSD59 ships of Volgo-Don Max class have the maximum dimensions to sail along the Volga-Don canal.

The project is designed for the class KM Ice2 R2 AUT1-ICS of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and meets all the requirements of international conventions in force at the time of the vessel's laying.

The maximum length is 141.0 m, the overall width is 16.98 m, depth is 6.00 m.

The capacity of cargo holds is 11400 cubic m.

    Both cargo holds are box-shaped, smooth-walled, and convenient at cargo operations and placing the goods without stowage. Their dimensions are 77.35 x 12.25 x 9.0 m and 27.03 x 12.25 x 9.0 m.

The operating speed is 10.5 knots.

Two medium-speed diesels (main engine) of 1200 kW each use heavy fuel oil with viscosity of IFO380 Heavy fuel stores are placed in deep-tanks in area of the ER fore bulkhead, separated from outside water by double bottom and double sides.

Sea sailing autonomy is 20 days.

Krasnoye Sormovo has already built nine ships of Project RSD59 with eleven more under construction.

Nevsky Shipyard has delivered two vessels in a series of five dry cargo vessel project RSD59 with three more under construction. Thus, the number of ordered RSD59 ships is 25 (including 9 built ships). Okskaya Shipyard has signed contracts for 15 more ships of Project RSD59.
