Throughput of port HaminaKotka (Finland) up 7.5% to 9.53 mln t in 8M’17
In January-August 2017, the Port of HaminaKotka (Finland) handled 9.53 mln t of cargo (+7.5%, year-on-year). According to the port authorities, transshipment of export cargo climbed by 8.4% to 6.97 mln t including 1.8 mln t of paper (+1.9%), 1.06 mln t of cellulose (+3.2%), 1.38 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-3.4%) and 912,810 t of dry bulk cargo (+43.7%).
Transshipment of import cargo grew by 5.2% to 2.56 mln t including 763,740 t of general cargo (+10.2%), 536,980 of dry bulk cargo (+54.5%) and 723,590 t of liquid bulk cargo (-11.1%).
Transshipment of transit cargo grew by 11.2% to 2.27 mln t, inland traffic dropped by 21.8% to 518,780 t.
Transshipment of containers climbed by 9.1% to 458,350 TEUs, transshipment of Ro-Ro cargo fell by 2.3% to 9,805 units, automobiles – by 28.7% to 4,259 units.
The number of calls declined by 3.4% to 1,670 calls.
The Port of Kotka is some 50 km from the Russian border, 280 km from St. Petersburg and 1,000 km from Moscow. Port of Kotka comprises ports of Mussalo, Hietanen, Kantasatama, berth Puolanlaituri (Polish berth), berth Halla, and also port premises Sunila. Port of Hamina is the eastern port of Finland located 35 km from the Russian border. In 2016, the port handled 13.4 mln t of cargo.
