Port of Tolyatti is a strong river transport hub

On 6 August 2021, Tolyatti hosted annual general meeting of the Association of Ports and Owners of River Transport (APSRT).

The meeting participants discussed major aspects of inland water transport development. The agenda included cooperation of APSRT with state authorities and RF Transport Ministry on development of regulatory documents.

Among APSRT meeting participants were APSRT President Aleksandr Zaitsev, Deputy Head of Rosmorrechflot Konstantin Anisimov, General Director of Port Tolyatti Pavel Korolyov and other leaders of ad hoc companies.

Established on 22 February 1995, the Association of Ports and Owners of River Transport (APSRT) numbers 128 companies and organizations operating in river basins of Russia. Associated members of APSRT are Association of Commercial Sea Ports, Association of Russian Freight Forwarding and Logistic Organizations and European River-Sea-Transport Union.

A tour to Port Tolyatti operation facilities and a water trip by the Volga river was organized after the meeting.

Established in 1958, the port of Tolyatti played a significant role in development of the city’s industrial potential.

Today, Tolyatti is a strong river transport hub servicing the needs of the region in passenger transportation, handling of construction aggregates carried by the Volga and Kama rivers as well as chemical fertilizers bound for the Baltic and Azov Sea ports, handling of various cargoes including oversize and overweight cargo and containers. The port’s annual throughput is about 4.2 million tonnes while its capacity is about 10 million tonnes.
