“Bunker Market. Prices”: tankers for liquid hydrogen and ‘green’ ports
- Introduction of alternative fuels in underway worldwide with ships being built for their transportation. GTT, TotalEnergies, LMG Marin and Bureau Veritas have signed an agreement for a Joint Development Project (JDP) to develop a 150,000 m3 capacity liquid hydrogen (LH2) carrier concept design fitted with GTT’s membrane-type containment system.
Stevedoring companies are also focused on green agenda. Ports invest more and more in shore-based power stations to reduce emissions from ships. Port of Aberdeen (Scotland) has announced its commitment to invest £55 million ($69.16 million) over the next 10 years to become the UK’s first net zero port by 2040. The introduction of shore power at scale, starting with first power at three berths in 2024, and facilitating low carbon alternative fuels for client vessels are expected to generate significant reductions in emissions in the years to come.
As for Russia, Saint-Petersburg will host the 16th All-Russia Forum "Current State and Prospects for the Development of the Russian Bunkering Services Market" on 22-23 June 2023.
