On operation and prospects of LNG-powered ships

    - The operation of the ship (Gagarin Prospect tanker, world’s first Aframax tanker powered by LNG as the primary fuel - Ed.) showed that efficiency of LNG is 20% higher as compared with any other liquid marine fuel.

... We hope that infrastructure intended for bunkering of ships with LNG fuel will develop in the Baltic Sea, that will ensure even more encouraging of large-scale introduction for this ecofriendly marine fuel.

It is also necessary to develop other encouraging and motivating measures. Privileges for environmentally friendly ships are offered in many ports worldwide... When the Gagarin Prospect tanker (powered by LNG - Ed.) entered the port of Primorsk, its authorities offered a 10-pct discount for this environmentally clean ship.

Recorded at the 2nd LNG Fleet and LNG Bunkering in Russia conference organized by IAA PortNews and Krylov State research Center.
