Havyard announces its eight windfarm service vessel
Havyard was among the first to build vessels specially adapted to offshore windfarms, and has followed this up by designing and building several windfarm service vessels in the past few years. This is the eighth Havyard design and the sixth windfarm service vessel to be fitted out by Havyard Ship Technology. This consolidates Havyard Group's position as the biggest supplier of windfarm service vessels, the Group said in a media release.
Senior Vice President Sales of Havyard Design & Solutions Gisle Vinjevoll Thrane says that there is a growing interest in offshore wind power both in Europe and in the rest of the world. The offshore windfarms are built further and further away from the coast, which increases the need for special vessels.
‘ESVAGT is well-positioned in this market, and through our long-standing cooperation with the company, we have managed to develop unique vessels that meet the requirements of both our customer and their client.’
The vessel is a Havyard 831 L SOV-design. It will be delivered to ESVAGT in the first quarter of 2021. The vessel will operate for the wind power company MHI Vestas at the offshore windfarm Moray East in the British sector.
Focus on the customer
Havyard 831L combines the customer’s wishes and needs in one optimal and cost-efficient solution. The vessel has been optimised to be able to transport personnel comfortably and efficiently from the vessel to the wind turbine in demanding weather conditions and, not least, to meet ESVAGT’s stringent requirements for safety in all operations.
‘This is a real team effort. Through our long and close collaboration with ESVAGT, we have got to know each other and build trust. That means that we can also challenge each other and develop vessels that are in high demand in the market.’
ESVAGT also emphasises the cooperation between the design firm and the shipyard.
