    Cargo turnover at inland water ways of Azov-Don Basin down 12.7% to 606,000 tonnes

    As of 1 May 2018, cargo turnover at inland water ways of Azov-Don Basin totaled fell by 12.7% to 606,000 tonnes, says official website of Azov-Don Basin Administration.

    Domestic cargo turnover grew by 63.5% to 206,000 tonnes, transit cargo turnover fell by 29.6% to 400,000 tonnes.

    As of 1 May, turnover of vessels totaled 490 including 208 vessels moving downward and 282 vessels moving upward (vs 489 units in the same period of 2017: 226 downward and 263 upward).

    Navigation on the Lower Don river opened on 20 March 2018. Transit navigation opened on 1 April 2018.

    In April, cargo turnover at inland water ways of Azov-Don Basin fell by 17.7%, year-on-year, to 561,000 tonnes. Wheat accounted for 27.1% of total turnover, heavy fuel oil – for 19.1%, vacuum gasoil – for 12.7%. The flow of transit cargoes dropped by 29.6% to 400,000 tonnes. Domestic cargo turnover grew by 41.2% to 161,000 tonnes.

    April turnover of vessels totaled 454 units (193 downward and 261 upward vs 479 units in April 2017 (222 downward and 257 upward).

    The Federal Azov-Don Basin Administration is responsible for management and control of inland waterways of the Don River Don from the lower access channel of Lock No 15 (Tsimlyansk Reservoir) to the village of Aksai (the 3121-km stretch of the Don), except for Nikolayevsky and the Konstantinovsky hydroengineering facilities, and the tributaries of the Don River, Seversky Donets (from Krasny farm to the mouth) and the Manych River (from the Novo-Manychskaya Dam to the mouth). The total length of the Azov-Don Basin Administration managed inland waterways reaches 691.3 km.‎
