Nuclear-powered submarine Severodvinsk passed control check for winter training period
The Northern Fleet newest multipurpose submarine Severodvinsk – Project 885 Yasen lead ship – passed a control muster concluding the winter training period, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
The Fleet Submarine Forces’ command staff attended a demonstration drill on passing the first standard task complex – the submarine’s preparation for going to the sea.
The drill was led by the Northern Fleet Chief of Staff Rear-Admiral Vladimir Grishechkin, an experienced submariner and the former Commander of the Fleet Submarine Forces.
The drill contained the main components of the submarine’s qualitative preparation for going to the sea, including loading food and ammunition, launching the nuclear reactor and testing operability of technical systems and mechanisms, ensuring radiation safety, readiness of personnel for maintaining the hardware, conducting damage control, using SAR equipment and performing the assigned tasks.
Checks for the winter training period are to take place in all units and formations of the Northern Fleet. At present, officers of the Fleet Staff are checking the shipborne air regiment and technical air base stationed in the Severomorsk-3 garrison.
