Throughput of port Ust-Luga up 1% to 24.23 million tonnes in 3M’18

In January-March 2018, the port of Ust-Luga handled 24,238,600 tonnes of cargo (+1%, year-on-year), says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo climbed by 9% to 7,815,800 tonnes including 6,209,200 tonnes of coal and coke.

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo fell by 4% to 15,604,400 tonnes including 7,007,100 tonnes of crude oil (-13%) and 7,982,800 tonnes of oil products (+2%).

Transshipment of general cargo fell by 11% to 188,900 tonnes.

Transshipment of cargoes carried by ferries totaled 380,800 tonnes (+2%).

The port’s container throughput grew by 5.4% to 21,627 TEUs.

In 2017, the port handled 103.29 million tonnes, its container throughput totaled 75,262 TEUs.

Ust-Luga port is situated practically at the border of the Russian Federation and the European Union. The deep water area of the port (17.5 m) together with the approach channel (3.7 km) make Ust-Luga port the only Russian port on the Baltic Sea capable of admitting dry-cargo vessels with the deadweight of up to 75,000 tonnes and liquid cargo carriers with the deadweight of up to 160,000 tonnes.
